First title in 2008 going to Gu Li 9p

Today Gu Li 9p beat Kong Jie 7p in final of NEC Cup. Gu Li 9p was white. In fuseki Kong play rare variation by cutting one stone and give up a corner to Gu. Fuseki seems to be favorable to Kong but Gu start immediately big fight. Kong must miss white 26 because be forced to play at 27 is very painful. The most interesting thing of this game is how Gu defend his weak groups. When white group on the upper side was on severe attack Gu Li cut off black group and start very complicated fight.

After this another battle start in upper right corner and respectable Kong play overplay killing corner. Black 1 should be at white 4.
After this game was very complicated and Kong made some other mistake in fight on right side. In the end Kong Jie resign after 170 moves. Gu won the first title in new year and earn 200,000 yuan. Actually Gu Li have 3 national title and at Tuesday he will be playing in final of Changqi Cup versus Liu Xing 7p.
