I was waiting for this moment for very long time
Park Jieun is one of my favorite female go player from Korea so her today win over Rui Naiwei 9p - the #1 in female go world - is the one of the most important happen in her go career. Maybe Park will be promoted to 9p after this tournament.
Backing to today’s game Park was white. In opening Rui made two move which are questionable for me. Black 15 is little odd for me because after tiger connection black can play one line further to attack white corner much severe. I understand that Rui wanted to made big fight in centre by playing at black 17, but in the game tis fight wasn’t so favorable for her. Next very odd move for me was Black 27. This move is gote i thought black will play something like G5 or F15. With White 28 Park start very severe attack.
After some expected fights black moyo at upper side disappear. In yose Park play a famous tesuji at White 136. The most funny thing is that Rui center group wasn’t alive until the late position when the position turn into ko of the game. Rui was in position when she couldn’t afford to lost this ko so Park was satisfied to take some stones in buttton left corner and win the game with solid margin.
Rui lost this time title but she need to recovery very fast. After two day she will play against Cho Hyeyeon 7p in second game final of Famale Myeongin - first game Rui won by 24,5 points.
