Korean Peliminary to Fujitsu Cup
Today Korea start new system to choose player to international tournament. In past Korea send player if they had a title or be a runner-up. New system give more change to young player with good Rate in previous year. In every next international tournament two seat will be decided by preliminary tournament. We could see today first preliminary to international title - Fujitsu Cup.
In first day the paring of Korean preliminary to Fujitsu Cup was: Kang Dongyun 7p vs Won Sungjin 9p; Choi Cheolhan 9p vs Han Sanghoon 2p; Yi Younguu 6p vs On Sojin 4p; Park Jungsang 9p vs Baek Hongsuk 5p.
In first game Kang Dongyun 7p pick a influence oriented variant in upper right corner. Won Sungjin 9p get 20 points in corner but Kang Dongyun 7p wall was very strong especially that Won decide to start immediately fight. After some jumps to the center the situation seems to be in favor to Won Sungjin 9p but Kang Dongyun 7p found great attacking tesuji - White 68 -by cutting black group in two. The most interesting was White 94 - giving black ponnuki was very big, but after this black was very busy and it was miracle that he manage to make a life everywhere. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for Won Sungjin 9p to win this game. Kang Dongyun 7p won the game by 8,5 points after 316 moves.
Second game was between Choi CheolHan 9p and Han Sanghoon 2p. Recently Han Sanghoon 2p shows good result in preliminary tournament to Electron Land-Cup, so i expected good game from him today, but in fuseki he made some questionable moves by sacrificing a group in opening. Later Han Sanghoon 2p show his greet fighting skill - Black 101 - in chuban but unfortunately he lost last ko which give him some lost and in the end he lost the game by 2,5 points.
The third game is my favourite because against Yi Younggu 6p we could see On Sojin 4p. On Sojin is my go idol. In times when many pro players play territory-oriental go On show many exiting games. In the opening On Sojin 4p build big framework on bottom side, after invasion he started to build some in centre, but in the he start big fight in upper side. The most interesting thing in On Sojin 4p baduk is way he use invasion to get influence - black 107 to white 124 is typical sequence in On Sojin 4p games. Unfortunately Yi Younggu 6p found good tesuji with White 108 and some move later On Sojin 4p was forced to resign.
The last game was another great example of moyo game, but this time more to make a real territory than use to start a fight. In this game Baek Hongsuk 5p take a black and build enough territory on right side to win a game with the smallest margin in today games.
Kang Dongyun 7p vs Won Sungjin 9p W+8,5
Choi Cheolhan 9p vs Han Sanghoon 2p W+2,5
Yi Younggu 6p vs On Sojin 4p W+R
Park Jungsang 9p vs Baek Hongsuk 5p B+1,5
Tomorrow will be two finals between: Kang Dongyun 7p vs Choi Cheolhan 9p and Yi Younggu 6p vs Baek Hongsuk 5p.
