4th World Go Oza - Europe
23 August, 4th World Go Oza tournament had started. Toyota-Denso Cup in some way is very fast international round, because in few days players play 4 rounds, so Oza itself can be really hard. Oza is Japanese tournament so is one of few international tournaments where you can observe many Japanese Baduk Masters playing with Korean and China Masters. This year 11 Japanese Baduk masters play in first round. This is huge number when you will compare to Korea (8 member) or China team (5 members).
In Oza you can not only watch Asian baduk masters, but masters from whole world. Europe send 3 players: Alexander Dinerstein 9p, Christian Pop 7d and Ilya Shiksin 7d. Alexander Dinerstein was playing against Li jie 7d from North America. In this game Alexander Dinestein play very uncommon opening which lend to complicated fight.
This was very unexpected to see this kind of game from Alexander Dinerstein.Li Jie in the end of the game made mistake and play false ko threat. Alexander Dinerstein don’t miss the chance and won large capturing race. After 282 moves Li Jie resigned.
Unfortunately other member from Europe team lost their games. Ilya Shiksin and Cristian Pop lost by huge gap. Ilya Shiksin had strong opponent (Xie He) and ever litlle mistake was used by him to maximum, but the most painful was Cristian Pop’s game. Cristian Pop play against Imamura Toshiya 9p from Japan. Imamura Tooshiya i relative weaker from other players in tournament, so Cristian chance to win the game in my opinion were 50-50.
Last time when Cristian Pop were playing in international tournament i questionable his plays because he used old jungseok. This time he play very modern opening, but lost in middle game fighting. It looks that he isn’t in good shape :(
