Yi Sedol 9p the winner

Yi Sedol 9p won today Samsung title by beating Park Yeonghun 9p 1,5 point taking black. In fuseki Yi play very solid and it was Park who start the fight with white 44. We can said that attack by white 44 end very succesful.

In first part of the game Park play many yose-like moves (white 38,78) which give him maybe some territory but globally Yi Sedol was getting stronger and stronger. Before chuban start Yi Sedol had a huge territory in upper-right corner, of course park also had build huge… moyo, but thanks to yi thickness it was easily reduced.

Yi Sedol era

The game before yose was very even, but park play very questionable move (???) - white 162 - which end with disaster for white and in the end of the game black won by 1,5 point.

Today game was good affirmance that actually we live in Lee Sedol era. Few days later we will see another international final with Lee Sedol 9p. Recently Yi Sedol go is not so big entertainment like in past but we could also see today some fighting moves like black 65. Yi Sedol grow a lot and now his strength is unexpected moves in chuban but without any weakness.

Park Yeonghun 9p fight back

“I want this title too!”

Today Park Yeonghun 9p show that he won;t give Yi Sedol 9p easy title. This time Park take white stone. The opening to black 17 was from the 1 game. Park choose to make a solid enclosure in bottom left corner instead of playing on right side. This kind of move show that Park don’t want give Yi chance to use his thickness from his group on left side.

When I saw white 18 i was convinced that Park will play solid go and want to beat Yi Sedol in yose(Park is famous of his yose which can even surpass Yi ChangHo yose) but in chuban he was one that start the big fight. I was really amazement when Park played White 90. The result was a big ko which was traded to black group in bottom side. The furikawari was slightly better for white, so Yi Sedol was forced to try something on left side, but nothing helped :( The situation only change from bad to worse for Yi Sedol 9p. Next ko was disaster Yi Sedol he kill group in upper left corner but he lost not only ko but also all bottom side.

Yi Sedol resign after 214 moves. Park show that he not only can play good yose but good fight too. Tomorrow Park and Yi will play 3th game which will decide who will get a title.
